Hello hello, Mala here! After earning a BA in Communications/Journalism from UNC-Chapel Hill and working in MN for almost four years, I relocated to NYC in 2007 to pursue an AAS in Graphic Design from Parsons New School for Design and graduated with honors in 2008. I am currently working as a freelance writer/designer/artist and would ideally love to land a permanent full-time position with a down-to-earth, environmentally-conscious design company, non-profit organization, advertising agency or publishing house (newspaper, magazine, book, academia, etc) until I'm ready to open my own design studio.

I consider myself an old soul with lots of passion and charm, and strive to achieve balance and authenticity every single day. I live for deep connections, tummy-aching laughter, paying it forward, decorating, thoughtful giving, learning/teaching, reading, piano, quaint coffee shops, sports, film and travel. I've been told my smiles are contagious and I'm especially fond of blue, quick wit, chocolate ice-cream and soft cotton. I love modern design with a twist, more specifically, the juxtaposition of minimalism with elements from the Victorian era, Rococo period and/or Baroque aesthetic. And I continue to be amazed by the unnecessary overuse of drop shadows and Papyrus type as actual branding. In fact, as one of my Twitter followers put it, "Papyrus can die in a cyber-fire."
